Caravan Quilters

Most of us have met and joined each other in quilting adventures by fate. It is truly a small world.

Kari & Venita met at a sewing class at Quilt-n Stitch. Kari and Janet had not seen each other
since high school but met at CCQ. Janet & Ina had met years ago, raising families and camping together. Venita met Janet at CCQ where she learned she was in the same high school class as Venita’s first heart throb.

As we came together each asked one other person to join our group and Mari and Joycelyn were added. Soon Joycelyn and Jeri discovered they had similar history in Montana.

We now have 8 core members, enjoying friendships, sewing, knitting, appliqué, embroidery and quilting projects. We travel to alternate homes for each meeting, every other week.

We have now donated three large quilts to the Quilt Auction.

A sneak peek of one of the quilts that will be at the auction for 2007. Pioneer Quilts is in the process of quilting it to have it ready for the auction.

Click here for a small sampling of the quilt pictures that we have so far with many more quilts coming in.

Too many quilts to see them all here.
These are just a sampling of what's going
to be available at the auction 2007.

Another great donation
for the 2007 Auction just arrived.

A Group project by
Thread Tales book and quilt group.
Cathy Erickson, Terry Knott,Gerrie
Thompson, Mary Arnold, Abby Dick,
Syn Ferguson, Linda Goetz, Sally LeRoy,
Angela McIntyre, Sharri Olmstead,
Val Pellens, and Barb Stewart.

The quilt auction in 2006 had close to 400 in attendance, and
we raised over $55,000 for Northwest Medical Teams (now known as
Medical Teams International)....we know
this is a hard way to raise money, but quilts surely symbolize
warmth and caring and comfort, and I cannot think of a more
generous, giving people than a group quilters!

Thanks so much to all of you who helped make this event
possible. So many will be helped by your gifts.

God Bless, the 2006 Hands and Hearts Quilt Auction Committee

Diversity

This donation for the 2006 Quilt Auction is a labor of love by 18 men and women gathering on their lunch hours for more than a year.

These Port of Portland employees with the help of Erica Eichelberg, aviation project manager for the Port, and a quilter in her own right, transformed a design created by Mike Satern, senior print designer, into a quilt that displays diversity in the Port employees, the many people served in the region and the diversity in business lines and environmental work.

A labor of love and an affirmation of diversity was a wonderful team-building and bonding experience for the department.

Hand appliqued and hand quilted!
